Readers Journal
My reaction to the book was a very good one because I personally Appreciate what veterans did for our country. And reading this makes me feel no different, I really liked the book for a couple of reasons though.
One of those reasons being that it was a first hand account of what was going on in Iraq at that time. And he gave a first hand account of what it was like to go through the BUD/S training, and he told us how hard it was to get through that training not just physically but mentally as well. Then after he explains his training he proceeds to talk about his deployment and what it consisted of which for him was boarding ships and taking them over to look for illegal cargo from Iraq, and how his experiences went while doing that. Then finally he gets to go to Iraq as a machine gunner for his seal team. He also goes into detail about some of the missions that he went on like, when he had to take an oil field before they could burn all of the oil. But after he goes into detail about some of his missions he also talks about his family and how they were effected by his deployment. This really connects to me because I have the dream of joining the military and becoming a pilot for the air force which means I will most likely be deployed. This book really connected to me and I loved that it did that because it is very rare that this actually happens so it was a nice surprise for me when I read this book.
When I finally got to reading this book I knew that people liked the book but when I read it I finally figured out why people liked it so much. After I got through the BUD/S part of the book I finally understood what he was trying to say when he wrote this book. You will have to read the book to truly under stand what he was trying to say in the book because I wont be able to explain to you what he was trying to say.
And so in conclusion I think that anyone who loves a good book should read this one because it was a great book. And I think that if you have any military plans then this book will connect to you deeply.
